Task Management
Tasks (homework assignments) are a key part of the Tutor Connecxion learning experience, keeping students engaged between live sessions.
Overview
The task system connects tutors and students:
- Tutors create and assign tasks, then review and score submissions
- Students view, complete, and submit tasks
- Parents can monitor task progress for their children
Task Lifecycle
- Tutor creates a task with title, description, and due date
- Student receives notification of the new task
- Student completes the work and marks it done
- Tutor reviews the submission
- Tutor scores the work (0-100%)
- Student sees their score and any feedback
For Students
Viewing Your Tasks
Your tasks are organized into two views:

| Outstanding | Tasks you haven't completed yet |
| Completed | Tasks you've finished (with scores if graded) |
Access your tasks from the Tasks item in the sidebar.
Task Card Information
Each task card displays:
- Title — What the task is about
- Due Date — When it needs to be completed
- Status — Outstanding, completed, or overdue
- Score — Your grade (after tutor reviews)
Completing a Task
- Click on a task to view the full description
- Complete the work as instructed
- Click Mark as Complete
- Wait for your tutor to review and score your work
Try to complete tasks before their due date. Overdue tasks are highlighted in your dashboard.
For Tutors
Creating a Task
- Navigate to Tasks from the sidebar
- Click Create Task
- Select the student to assign it to
- Enter a clear title that describes the work
- Write a detailed description with instructions
- Set a due date
- Click Create
Writing Good Task Descriptions
Tips for effective tasks:
- Be specific about what you expect
- Break complex work into steps
- Include any resources or references
- Specify how to submit (if applicable)
Reviewing & Scoring
When a student completes a task:
- You'll see the task in your Pending Review list
- Click to open the task details
- Review what the student submitted
- Enter a score (0-100)
- Add optional feedback comments
- Click Save Score
Scoring System
Score Ranges
Scores are displayed with visual indicators:
| Score Range | Color | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 90-100% | 🟢 Green | Excellent |
| 70-89% | 🟡 Yellow | Good |
| 50-69% | 🟠 Orange | Satisfactory |
| 0-49% | 🔴 Red | Needs improvement |
Average Score
Students and parents see an average score calculated from all completed and scored tasks. This appears on the dashboard as a quick health indicator.
For Parents
Parents can view their children's tasks:
- See outstanding tasks that need attention
- View completed tasks and scores
- Monitor trends in task completion and scoring
Enable notifications to receive alerts when your child receives a new score.

Tutor Connecxion sends notifications for key task events:
