Complete checklist for new tutors to get fully set up on Tutor Connecxion.

Tutor Onboarding Checklist

Welcome to Tutor Connecxion! Follow this checklist to get your tutoring business up and running.

Getting Started

1. Complete Your Profile

Your profile is your first impression. Make it count!

  1. Upload a photo — Professional headshot with good lighting
  2. Write your bio — 2-3 paragraphs about your background and teaching style
  3. Add subjects — List all subjects you teach with specific levels (e.g., "GCSE Maths")
  4. Set your rate — Research comparable tutors for competitive pricing
Tip: Profiles with photos get significantly more booking requests than those without!

2. Set Your Availability

Tell the platform when you can teach:

  1. Navigate to Calendar > Manage Availability
  2. Toggle each day on/off
  3. Set your working hours for each day
  4. Add breaks (lunch, personal time)
  5. Save your availability

3. Test Your Setup

Before your first session, verify everything works:

  1. Go to Settings > Audio/Video
  2. Test your microphone — speak and check the level indicator
  3. Test your camera — verify you're visible and well-lit
  4. Test a whiteboard — open the whiteboard tool and draw something

Building Your Student Base

4. Invite Your First Students

If you have existing students:

  1. Navigate to Students
  2. Click Invite Student
  3. Enter their email address
  4. Add a personal message
  5. Click Send

5. Schedule Your First Session

Once a student joins:

  1. Navigate to Sessions or Calendar
  2. Click Create Session
  3. Select the student
  4. Choose date/time from your availability
  5. Add topic and notes
  6. Create the session

Mastering the Tools

6. Practice with the Whiteboard

The whiteboard is your key teaching tool:

  • Drawing — Freehand sketches and diagrams
  • Shapes — Rectangles, circles, arrows
  • Text — Typed annotations
  • Colors — Organize with different colors

7. Understand Task Management

Keep students engaged between sessions:

  1. Navigate to Tasks
  2. Click Create Task
  3. Assign to a student with due date
  4. After completion, review and score

Before Your First Session

Pre-Session Checklist

Day of session:
  • Test audio/video again
  • Review student's profile and any notes
  • Prepare any materials you'll reference
  • Clear your space and minimize distractions
  • Start the session on time

Running the Session

  1. Click Start Session at the scheduled time
  2. Wait for the student to join
  3. Use video for face-to-face interaction
  4. Use whiteboard for visual explanations
  5. End the session when complete

After Your First Session

Follow-Up Tasks

  1. Assign a follow-up task if appropriate
  2. Make notes for the next session
  3. Schedule the next session
  4. Send a friendly message checking in
